Event Photography … sharing photos & respecting privacy
I have shot a hundreds of events over the years … college convocations and commencement exercises, reunions, ceremonies to install bishops and to ordain deacons & priests, company picnics, employee service recognitions, fairs, rodeos and more. (No, no weddings. Well … one wedding, a simple service for a close friend, a long time ago.)
You won't find much of my work from these events here because posting photos of people on the internet makes me uncomfortable. People still have a right to privacy.
For events, I post photos to private galleries on my Flickr site. I send gallery links to my clients and let them distribute the links to their members at their discretion. This practice gives access to group members and event attendees in a controlled manner, without putting them out there for the whole world to see.
Of course, I cannot control what a group member does with the private gallery links, but I have not experienced any wholesale distribution of links to the world at large. I am more comfortable with this arrangement than with the use of open & public galleries, and hope that you can appreciate this concern.
All of that said, if you would like to see more, please ask via email and I'll supply links to a couple of private Flickr galleries. Please respect my practice and the right to privacy of the folks who appear in these photos and refrain from passing the links on to others. Thank you!
